When I woke up and was browsing my Google News headlines this morning, something caught my eye almost immediately, and refused to go away. Finally I gave it the attention it demanded, and realized to my surprise, Google has a new favicon! Well, we’ve had the uppercase G for as long as I can remember, and here’s how the new one compares.
As the wise Rafiki once so eloquently put it “Ahhh. Change is good.” And here at Base14 we couldn’t agree more. Change is a strong theme for the company today as I, Tyler, officially graduated from Purdue University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Graphics Technology. Thanks Purdue! Now it’s on to bigger and better things down in Savannah, Georgia where I’ll be attending Savannah College of Art and Design for a Master’s Degree in Film and Television. This can only mean good things for Base14, as my newfound skills in directing and producing will undoubtedly lead to continuously better film productions. Of course we here at Base14 would like to thank all our fans and supporters during our stint here in West Lafayette, and encourage you to keep in touch. Purdue will always be recognized as the spark that gave life to the multimedia development diversity of Base14.
Finally, the long wait is over! Announcing the beta release of Base14tv, a custom-designed video browser built right into the Base14 website! Base14tv is designed to make viewing our past work here at Base14 easy and enjoyable. We harness the powerful Flash video format, organize it with XML and deliver it with a slick Flash interface complete with scrubbablity, library browsing and fullscreen mode! Check it out now!
Base14tv beta currently features six of our most popular videos:
- Biological Warfare Ain’t Easy: The Theatrical Trailer
- Biological Warfare Ain’t Easy: A Rightfield Movie (Extended Edition Director’s Cut)
- EMV Introduction Video 2007
- Tide & Punishment
- A Cold Day Production
- Teen J-Squad
And that won’t be all! As time goes on, we’ll periodically dip into our video archives and add other classic works to Base14tv! It’ll only get more interesting from here!
Now we do admit it’s still in beta, so you’ll notice some quirks. Please feel free to report any issues you find as comments to this post. The more feedback we get, the better we can make Base14tv!
Just a short note that we’ve updated the About section so it… actually has something in there. The comics section is under development too but is being weird at the moment. And the Base14 Gallery remains empty. I’ll at least get BWAE in there soon. And did somebody say new comic? Well no, but the second Base14 Comic will be out on Monday. I’m so excited!
Hello everyone and welcome to the brand spankin’ new Base14 Website! We’ve come a long way since our first days on the web three long years ago, and I think there’s a lot to show for it. Base14 Website Version 3.0 is totally fresh, with plenty of dynamic, interesting content to keep you coming back for more. Here’s our main highlights:
The Base14 Blog is your number one source for Base14-related production news and updates. This clean, sophisticated, and powerful WordPress blog will follow Base14 though projects and events and feature special behind-the-scenes looks at upcoming releases!
Base14 Comics is the official successor to Rightfield, a popular daily comic strip that ran in the Purdue Exponent last year. Base14 Comics will adapt the comedic style of Rightfield to the web format, embedding each strip directly into the blog engine so every comic is fully integrated with comments and RSS!
The Base14 Gallery will feature new, easier ways to view past Base14 projects. Starting with a webreel of popular Base14 video productions, it will eventually branch out to feature all genres of our work, including print design, web design and traditional media.
So sit back, relax and enjoy all the new Base14 site has to offer! It may be small now, but as time goes on this will grow to be a rich and formidable site. And who knows, maybe one day we might even turn over a profit.
